KHON-TV reports the woman was struck shortly after noon Thursday at her home on Kahapili Street.
Neighbors told police the woman was being dropped off when she was struck.
Honolulu police say the driver of the car was a woman in her 70s. She told police she thought the car was in revere and she accelerated.
The car lurched forward, striking and critically injuring the woman who had just been dropped off.
Police say the driver swerved trying to avoid the woman and the car struck the home.
The injured woman died Queens Medical Center. The driver and another passenger were not injured.
